Sammi Katz is a cocktail creator, writer, and consultant, with over ten years experience working in New York City bars. She loves sharing her enthusiasm for all things cocktails and is always up for a lively debate about the appropriate garnish for a Last Word.

She currently runs the bar program for the culinary reading series Tables of Contents, and has worked at various cocktail bars around New York, including The Rockwell Place, Sweet Polly, The Standard, and Bathtub Gin. Sammi has created cocktails for various liquor brands, such as Maker’s Mark® Whisky, and designed beverage programs for new bars, most recently Tres Leches in Ithaca, NY.

Sammi has authored two cocktail books with her creative partner, illustrator Olivia McGiff: Cocktails in Color: A Spirited Guide to the Art and Joy of Drinkmaking, and Spirited Women: Makers, Shakers, and Trailblazers in the World of Cocktails. Sammi has written for The New York Times, The Daily Beast, and Chowhound, and is the creator of the blog, A Girl’s Guide to Drinking Alone®, which reviews bars for how awesome or awful they are for women to go to alone.
